Summer Camp - June 30 to August 8, 2014

This year's camp theme, Shaw Community Values, supports SCM's mission by engaging participants with local examples of committed relationships, home ownership, entrepreneurship and educational attainment. The program is designed to prevent summer learning loss, and to enhance feelings of belonging.

Each week will begin with an orientation to the planned sub-theme for that week; providing a lens through which to examine the wider theme of Shaw Community Values. The week will proceed with classroom instruction for background conceptual support, arts and media opportunities to express their thoughts on the sub-theme, a field-trip to interact with outside experiences, and journaling time to reflect upon experiences. Each week features activities, programming and field trips that focus on exploring a different aspect of the wider civic engagement theme.
